Roof top Antenna

It seems that there are so many options in the world anymore. Satellite, Internet, cable, streaming live TV, and of course just plain old Television on rabbit ears or roof antenna. All those options are just to watch what we used to refer to television, which has went way beyond what was available just a decade ago. Our house was not much different than anyone else, we all had the same choices in television and radio. Although some people got some channels clear than others. Sometimes it was dependent on the weather what you could watch but, there were only five channels being broadcast. Back in those days we may not have had as many channels to choose from but the programs and selections seemed much better, I think. Somedays you had to adjust the roof antenna. It took two at my home, my dad or mom in front of the TV,  and the other person using a pipe wrench to turn the antenna! Usually that was me as it was cold and everyone had their house shoes on.

Then there were the times when the television selector needed a matchbook cover slid in the edge to make the signal visible. And as soon as you take your hands off the selector the tv would go fuzzy again. In 1954 the Rose bowl Parade is broadcast in color on TV, which was many years before we got a colored tv set. My grandmother had a color television and I loved to stay there. She would rise early and start a fire in the wood stove using only cedar for cooking. She would make pancakes and I would turn on the tv. She had the same problems with reception so her antenna would have to be adjusted also. But the shows were in color and seemed more intense, then on a black and white tv. Those were the days and it seems like only yesterday. I bring that up to remind you of how fast time goes by. It seems like just yesterday that I graduated from High School. It seems like just yesterday that we got married.  It all seems like just yesterday. Time does fly by and before you know it is spent. In the Bible we are told to number your days. So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (ESV)
